this is the progress of a neglected series called "run rabbit run". i had momentarily lost momentum on this vision, but am now enthusiastic to see it to completion. these two hell bent hounds are the beginning of the wall of dogs intent on catching the loan rabbit.

still green but hoping to pop them into a kiln asap.

still photographing the rest of the characters for this narrative piece. some characters will not be photographed until summer break is over. for sadly there is no summer semester at fort mason. i will revisit this in the near future with greater detail and description of the narrative upon which it was based.

the gimpy little bicycle! so i did not get a chance to photograph this little one pre unwrapping, but it turned out just fine. it was really more of a test run at making a ceramic piece that moved. it was successful on that level! the wheels spin freely. now to get the rest of the components into action.

just finishing up another semester of school. i have many works in progress, but as it goes the progress is slow, and i have not been as interested in documenting the early stages of work as much as i am in the end result because it speaks for its self. i have been working on a ceramic sculpture that has movement. i was inspired by antique toys so i have been trying to make a bunny on a bike...the bike looks like it fell down a flight of stairs and has been hospitalized. but when i unwind its bandaging of tape after the epoxy has reset its parts i think it is going to be stronger than it was before. i will get a before and after action shot, but only because it is a great example of how pushing the limits of clay can cause really devastating results and set ya back a few days. PATIENCE...grumble grumble grumble. and once that obstacle is over there is the added anticipation of weather or not the rest of the components will come together. the hardest part i can foresee is the balancing the rider, and bicycle on the moving wheel. i might have bitten off more than i could chew with this one, but it has been a much welcomed challenge.

wow this thing has been long neglected. how sad! so it is my new and improved goal to treat this forum more like a good ol' blog rather than simply a portfolio. i have wondered why anyone would want to make a blog or participate in blogging. now i am at a point in which i am no longer questioning it, just going to test the waters and see how i like it.

ass backward goal list:

first goal:

to further expand upon my new work and see if anything comes to fruition with any of my older work.

second goal (though not unrelated to the first):

get over the not so true fact that art, including mine. has no meaning out side of what the viewer sees and interprets. i guess it might mean something to some people to know what my intentions are for my work, and i think writing about it will help me better understand why this is so important as well.

third goal:

better document my work and better organize my progress. i hope this will make things clearer for myself and others interested in the process!
